DYWA CENTER

PAGO PAGO

DYWA Center is a community youth center that provides Sports & Education training in American Samoa.  Fa'a Samoa Initiative is a program started by the Troy & Theodora Polamalu Foundation. Initially, this program began as a football camp for the young men of American Samoa in 2011 and quickly integrated more sports. Apart from the sports camp, in 2015, Fa'a Samoa became laser focused on education. Today program serves hundreds of youth on the island giving them an opportunity to get advanced training and offers opportunities that expand their horizons.

How The Orphaned Starfish Foundation Helps

The Orphaned Starfish Foundation provided the very first computer training center on the island. We funded the 30 computers as well as the computer teacher, printer and internet. The goal is to improve the quality of education and also prepare these youngsters for jobs. For some of the children, it is their first time touching a computer. We are helping the community of American Samoa grow so that the children here will have more opportunity for growth than ever before.

MANU'A HIGH SCHOOL

Luma

Manu'a High School is the only High School on the island of Manu'a in American Samoa. Manu'a Island has a population of 873 people and very little access to modern life. The children on the island are eager to learn.

How The Orphaned Starfish Foundation Helps

The Orphaned Starfish Foundation together with Fa'a Samoa Initiative has brought laptops to the Manu'a High School and going forward will pay for the computer teacher to teach as prior to this the children hadn't received a tech education for 4 years to to insufficient funds for a teacher.
