Expanding Opportunities
Beyond Technology
At the Orphaned Starfish Foundation, we believe opportunity should reach every child, no matter how remote their home. That belief took shape this year with the inauguration of a brand-new basketball court in the heart of the Maasai Mara in Kenya— a space built not just for sport, but for community, confidence, and connection.
Made possible in part through the generosity of Roberto Felipe, the court gives local youth a place to play, compete, and grow together. Basketball teaches teamwork, discipline, and resilience — values that echo the Orphaned Starfish Foundation's mission of helping vulnerable children rise above hardship and thrive.
From the first tip-off, the court has already become more than a place to shoot hoops. It's a gathering point, a source of pride, and a symbol of what's possible when compassion meets action.
Roberto's vision doesn't stop in Kenya — he is now in the works on a second court, this time in the Dominican Republic, extending the reach of sport and opportunity to even more children. In recognition of his continued generosity and impact, we are proud to honor him at this year's gala.
We're grateful to the donors who make projects like this possible, and excited to watch this next generation of players — and leaders — take the court.
You can help us build the next court, classroom, or opportunity. Every gift brings us closer to giving more children the tools, spaces, and support they need to thrive — on the court and beyond. Donate today and be part of the next chapter.
