ATISHA PRIMARY SCHOOL

Atisha Middle School is supported by the Snow Lion Foundation was established in 1972 by the Swiss Association for Technical Assistance  to look after the health, education and social welfare of the Tibetan refugees in Nepal. In case of financial need, these schools have recourse to the DOE. The DOE provides support and guidance to the Tibetan students from Nepal who come to India to either complete their schooling or to pursue higher education. Tibetan Schools various levels are spread across all the Tibetan Settlements in India, Nepal and Bhutan. Since Nepal has the largest concentration of Tibetan refugees outside India, the Department of Education, Dharamsala has accordingly facilitated the opening of a sizeable number of primary and middle schools to provide education opportunity to Tibetans living in the settlements or in the remote regions of Nepal. 

 

How The Orphaned Starfish Foundation Helps

 

The Orphaned Starfish Foundation donated funds to rebuild computer centers damaged during the earthquake in Nepal and have donated computers. Now rebulit, OSF will provide funding for the computer teachers.

DRUK AMITABHA

KATHMANDU

 

The Amitabha Monastery sits on the top of Druk Amitabha mountain overlooking Kathmandu Valley. It is a center for spiritual practice and for humanitarian causes. It has a hall that seats up to 2,000 people, a library, administration office for the Drukpa Lineage, a nunnery, residences for 300 nuns, and a medical clinic. It is a refuge for animals saved from butchering and has vegetable gardens to provide food for the center. The hiking trail here are as attractive as the monastery and the surrounding scenarios. The Druk Amitabha Monestary is home to the world famous Kung-Fu Nuns who support the surrounding communities and especially sprang into action post the recent earthquake.

 

How The Orphaned Starfish Foundation Helps

 

OSF donated funds to help purchase computers that will be used in the Druk Amitabha Monestary in Naro Hall that will provide computer classes to children in the neighboring villages who lost their homes in the earthquake.
